Fall Biker Chic
Sep 26th, 2007 by summer
Ghastly helmet head, sweat marks, and the dorky orange reflector look – with that bicycle riding image cruising through people’s minds, it’s no wonder peeps drive their cars to social events. But is it possible to cut emissions and still look good? Certainly, green friends!
Below, a presentable looking me on a lovely fall evening out on the town … and the tricks that made biking possible.
Exhibit A: Side parted low ponytail. This classic hairstyle is always in, and perfect for biking – the helmet even gives it the dewy, slicked down look.
Exhibit B: Look smart with a neck wrapped scarf. Forget the flappy flappy, tie up with a snug Euro style scarf and you’ll be looking sophisticated, and protected from the wind.
Exhibit C: Eco-fashionable accessories… I got this designer black leather purse at a high end garage sale. The zippered closure keeps valuables from escaping on speedbumps. Don’t do garage sales? Try designer resale stores in your area.
Exhibit D: Buddy system. I try not to bike by myself at night, ‘specially after a few margaritas, ‘specially with all the nut job drivers in LA.
Exhibit E: Bamboo denim trousers. These particular denim pants were designed by Carol Young with commuting in mind. Breathable bamboo with plenty of stretch for biking.
Exhibit F: Don’t forget your reusable, fall colored bag for toting those delicious leftovers home.
