Eco-Petal Fashion Event
Jul 15th, 2006 by summer

Anna Cohen and I (in the self-pic above) had a good ole time at the L.A.’s Eco-fashion show. Plenty of organic food and wine, as well as a great look at some new eco-fashion designers that are in the mix. Definitely top on the fun list: chatting with the designers BTC Elements carries. We email and speak on the phone a lot, but rarely have the chance to get together. They are all such amazing pioneers in the sustainable fashion world, and really great peeps!
Below, Jenny Hwa from Loyale, was out from New York and sporting her organic cotton Ibiza dress.

The Stewart + Brown crew was also there. Their organic cotton Patch Skirt was featured in the fashion show.

It was also great seeing Paul from No Enemy, as well as meeting new designers- many of which you’ll be able to see on BTC soon!
One of the models in the show was the sassy and sustainable Summer Rayne Oakes- a shot of the two Summers and Anna below.
Other highlights- yoga on the runway, and the finale.

Anna decided to stay in Santa Monica for a few more days. We’ve got serious plans: getting some work done, hanging out at the beach, and salsa dancing (yipes, she’s a professional). Thanks Anna for the bamboo cowl neck top I wore to the fashion show, and the Marionberry Jam from her homestate, Oregon – yum!

[...] It’s been a long time coming, but there is now a super sassy organic cotton, made in the USA designer jean on the market! I recently had an evening out with designers Anna Cohen (above right) and Tierra Del Forte (above left). Tierra is the designer and founder of Del Forte jeans, which were all over the runway at the Eco-Petal fashion show. Tierra worked in New York for several years as a denim designer for various companies, before she decided to break off on her own and create these amazing green jeans. Also important to Tierra is a sweatshop free environment, which is why her product line is made entirely in the USA. [...]
[...] Gretchen Nix, the founder of Modmix, and I had lunch a couple of weeks ago, and she gave me a few samples. I tested them out on everyone I could…. sister-in-law, husband, Siel, Anna… I even made my little sister Eiko, a non-alcoholic Margarita. The beverages got rave reviews. [...]
[...] Well said, friends. To the right a self pic of No Enemy founder Paul and me, hanging out at the Eco-Petal event in West Hollywood. [...]

[...] When Glamour called us up last month asking for the finest in eco-fashion, we were thrilled to send them pieces from all of our fave eco-designers. The stylist picked one of our MuuMuu Heaven skirts made out of vintage aloha wear, and a cute spring organic cotton/hemp dress by my designer buddy Jenny Hwa from Loyale (available soon!). [...]
[...] Congrats to our designer Jenny Hwa of Loyale who was featured with BTC Elements in Elle.com as part of their “Green is Chic” slideshow. The Madera Dress – a sweet little number made with a blend of organic cotton and hemp blend – was featured on their slide show of eco-fashion styles. [...]
