Stephanie Huffaker, started out her eco-fashionable jewelry endeavors by experimenting with several different materials that had the greatest need for reuse. Knowing that discarded plastics clog our water systems and choke wild animals, she chose the plastic bag because it was "a good way to raise awareness about the effects of plastic on the environment." Currently, Stephanie collects upcycled plastic from friends, family, and community members on the Brooklyn freecycle network.
